Link System

The Link System package provides a cool way for you to manage categories of links across your site.

It allows your users to suggest their own links (with optional captcha and email validation), which you can approve from within the dashboard. Links can optionally display thumbnails (generated automatically with PageGlimpse). You can also set the number of links per page, and can sort by newest, oldest, or title. If you've got a lot of links, you can even display a search field.

Rapid Paging

The Rapid Ajax Paging block improves the browsing experience on your sites by automatically making links load content through AJAX, rather than using a full page refresh for each click. This means that users can load more pages quicker, since only the new content needs loaded with each request, avoiding having to reload CSS, javascript, and navigation/template images. It works great whether for something as simple as paginated pages (previous 1 2 3 next etc), or even for navigating through an entire site. A similar navigation architecture is used on popular web-apps such as gmail and facebook.

Automatically updates the selected page in the Auto-Nav and Date-Navigation blocks.

The concrete5 Books Block is a simple way to refer your site's audience to your favorite reading material, and it's free.

Just enter your favorite Book's title or ISBN number. The block will automatically grab the book's title, author, description, and cover image.

You can also optionally provide links to Amazon.com, Powell's Books, or another book retailer of your choice.

The book's cover image allows you to set a max width and height, and you can easily place it on the left or above the book information (see screenshots)

Image / File Search

This concrete5 package provides an easy way for your users to search images or files. You can set it up to search with any combination of keywords, tags and attributes. And you can display almost any property related to that file, in any order, and can sort by any property too.

Put a search box anywhere on your site, and have it post to results anywhere else. You can put the search form into a sidebar area and the results section into the main area for a nicer layout.

Searching can be limited to certain file sets (like "Annual Reports" or "Stock Photography"), or you can let users search by set. Sets can also be excluded from the search results. And you can also limit your results by type (such as Image, Text, or Document).

Results are shown in a grid style layout. You can specify the number of columns, the thumbnail size of the image, and the max number of rows.

You can also choose what happens when resulting images and files are clicked. You can have them just open, be downloaded, link to another page, or you can turn the link off too.

Mailing List System

The concrete5 mailing list package allows you to send emails & newsletters to any group, and allows your users to easily subscribe and unsubscribe. And unlike other mailing list systems, the Mailing List package integrates well with your concrete5 site, doesn't require that you pay a recurring monthly fee.

This system consists of three main parts:

A new Mailing List section within the dashboard
A Mailing List Subscriptions block that allows your users to subscribe to mailing list groups
A Manage Subscriptions page, where users can cancel subscriptions, or optionally verify their email addresses when subscribing.

Package Features:

Send HTML emails, and have a plain text version auto-generated.
It automatically includes unsubscribe text & links with each email.
Choose whether unregistered or just the registered users can subscribe, and automatically provide sign-up

Note: Sending large volumes of bulk mail can create both technical and legal challenges. If you're using this to send out lots of messages, you should make sure your hosting company allows it, and you should make sure the list of emails complies with your local spam control laws. Also, if for some reason emails get flagged as spam or are not recieved, chances are it's going to be related to your concrete5 core & server configurations. I'll help you troubleshoot any issues you have up to the point where the emails are sent and logged in the reports page. If you still have any issues beyond that try enabling SMTP emails via the dashboard, setting up a SPF DNS record, and/or making sure the from email address is from the same domain as your mail server. However, for most installations these additional steps are unnecessary.

Popup Block

With the Concrete5 Popup block, you can make links to other pages on your site open with a dialog box. What makes this solution really cool is that it loads your existing concrete5 areas & blocks! Great for popup photo-enlargement, contact forms, faqs, etc.

Here are the options:

You can turn any link into a popup in three ways: via class, css selector, or page path.
Set up as many "rules" as you'd like, whether each rule shows the page's title, and whether it is modal, which means it closes when you click the background.
Set the popup to just display the main cocnrete5 area from the page the link points to, or load the complete page (in which case you'd probably want to create a popup page type).
Popup width can be a percentage of the screenwidth or fixed, and the height can be automatic or fixed.
You can style you're popup to match your site by picking it's text color, background, border color and width, padding, text-alignment, and title tag.
Integrated with the Concrete5 Stats package if it's installed, so the hit is tracked when a popup is opened.
Works great with SEO, since it uses standard links!
Includes English, French & German translations.
*New - automatic anchor link scrolling

Examples:

Example 1: a standard link, with a class name of "popupLink"

Example 2: with the billboards block inside of it (just to show that javascript loads well), and to demonstrate height resizing.

Example 3: here i'm using the ProPhoto image gallery block to display a collection of images (note that it also works great in filmstrip mode), having those link to a page with the File-Details block, and then applying the popup to those links, by using a "CSS Selector" rule of ".proPhotoWrap a".

(A couple of caveats on the popup block. Firstly, although this package does a good job at running other blocks inside of the popup, some blocks may have issues. The required block type javascript and css libraries are automatically loaded only when loading an area from another page, but if you choose to use the full-page view option, then you're going to want to make a custom "popup" page type for your site that includes just the required libraries for that block, and not the entire header_required include.)

User Info

Quickly display user avatar, info & attributes anywhere on your site.

You can 1) select a user manually, 2) have it automatically load the page author, or 3) load it dynamically based on a page attribute. It also automatically loads the right user when you use it on the /profile/ page.

Add as many properties as you want displayed (user name, avatar, message or profile links, or any custom user attribute), and drag them into any order. Certain properties then have additional options (like pulling first and last name attributes instead of using the username, or the avatar position).

File/Image Details

Easily display any properties or attributes of a file. Great for making a standalone image or file details page to help with search engine indexing.

With the File/Image Details block, you can choose from a list of properties (like title, description, tags, date added, file size, file name, and download link) and custom attributes, drag them into any order, and optional provide a label for each detail item. You can also now add Digital Watermarks to protect your images, by using text like your company name or an uploaded image as a semi-transparent overlay!

Some of the detail types then provide further options, such as a max width and height if you want to display and image, or link the image to another url. It also gives you control of the styling, including title color/style (h1, h2, bold etc), label color/width/bolding. If you are using tags with your files, you can ever specify a target page to go to when a tag is clicked.

For selecting the source file or image, you have two choices: you can select one manually, or you can have it dynamically load any image based on a query string variable (so you don't have to make a seperate page for each file). Integrates well with the Billboards, Image/File Search, and ProPhoto blocks.

Next Previous

This is a simple block for added Next and Previous links to pages, to navigate between other pages on the same level (ones that share the same parent page). You can type in your own labels to replace the default "Next" & "Previous", or you can use the actual page names as link. There's also an option to have the links loop, and to have it add « » style arrows.

Stats - Concrete5 Traffic & Statistics

The Stats package is integrated with concrete5, so you can get a better idea of whats going on, who has been visiting, and their paths through your site. It's even integrated with some other concrete5 blocks so you know what interfaces they're clicking on!
